Ranelagh Parent Teacher Association

Welcome to the Ranelagh PTA facebook page! Here you can find out about who we are, what we do, and how you can get involved.

Our strapline is Putting the Fun into Fundraising. We organise various events throughout the year for Ranelagh families to enjoy and to fundraise for the school.

The PTA is formed of a group of parents and teachers who voluntarily give up their time to arrange events and raise much-needed events for the school. The Headteacher is the President of the PTA, and he is supported by parent volunteers fulfilling the the executive roles of Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer and a number of other parent and staff volunteers in general committee roles.

The PTA is a registered charity. You can find out more about the Ranelagh PTA on the Charities Commission Website www.charity-commission.gov.uk (registered charity number 1125897).

PTA Constitution

At our 2021 AGM we reviewed and updated our constitution, which is the document that sets out what we do. Read the updated PTA Constitution.

At the start of every academic year, we agree our funding priorities with the Headteacher and Deputy Head. This academic year, we committed to fund:

  1. Youthline Counselling – £4,500
  2. Bike Storage Racks – £4,000
  3. 17-Seater Minibus – £7,000 for the first year’s lease (the PTA also commitment £5500 expenditure for the next 4 years).

Since the start of term, we have also been asked, and agreed, to fund several curriculum projects at a cost of c£14,000. That money has  paid for some new music software, new ovens and oven servicing, equipment to refurbish the breathing space, some new science equipment, some DT equipment, two new table tennis tables, some new gym mats, and some stage equipment.

Every penny that we raise goes back into school projects like this that benefit every Ranelagh pupil in some way.

All of our projects are detailed on our online giving platform, Kindlink, where you can see how much we have raised so far, and make a donation.

How can I help the PTA?

We are blessed to be a secondary school with a thriving PTA, but we rely on the support and generosity of parents and staff to help us run successful events and raise the funds that we do. There are lots of ways you can get involved and help the PTA – we have added details of some of these ways on this webpage. We welcome any help you can give! Please get in touch with us at pta@ranelagh.bonitas.org.uk or via the PTA Facebook page.

At the end of the 2021-22 academic year, we are losing some volunteers as their children leave the school, and so we really need some new help! We’re currently looking to find volunteers who are willing / able to take on the following roles:

  • Events catering lead – ideally someone who has experience of working in catering industry and holds up to date food and hygiene certificates to enable the PTA to run social events safely. There are always plenty of helpers in the kitchen when we hold events but having help from catering professionals would be such a help.
  • Secretary – A pivotal role in our PTA. This needs someone who is organised and has good administrative skills , who can take minutes of our meetings and ensure our documentation is up to date.
  • Communications & marketing lead – We would love to have someone on board who can update our webpage, social media channels, and lead on other written communications to parents.
  • Events team – We are always on the look out for more events team helpers! We welcome new ideas, and you can do as much or as little as you can fit in!

Please get in touch to find out more about any of these roles, or to offer your support!

Reward and Giving Schemes

Donate Online via kindlink

kindlinkIf you are able to make a one-off or regular donation towards this year’s projects, we would be extremely grateful. You can donate by:

  • Giving us a cheque, made payable to Ranelagh PTA (which can be passed to us via the school office)

  • Direct bank transfer (email us for bank account details)

You can also raise funds for us via one of the reward schemes below…

Bracknell Forest Lottery

Bracknell Forest Lottery SchemeBracknell Forest Lottery is a weekly lottery that raises money for local good causes. Each ticket for the lottery costs £1 per week, with 50p of every pound going towards your chosen good cause, and you have a 1 in 50 chance to win a prize every Saturday when the numbers are drawn, with a top prize of £25,000! That’s much better odds of winning than the National Lottery or the Health Lottery!

In its first year, we raised over £1,300 for our school from only 42 tickets bought in support of Ranelagh PTA – imagine the real difference we could make if even half of our parent community signed up!

If you’re able, please do consider supporting this new school fundraising initiative whilst also being in with a good chance to win a prize! You can find full details and sign up here.

Easyfundraising and Amazon Smile

easyfundraisingWhat’s easyfundraising?

easyfundraising is a way to turn your everyday online shopping into FREE donations. When you shop at one of the hundreds of available stores online through easyfundraising, they make a donation to the PTA to say thank you for shopping with them.

What’s Amazon Smile?

Amazon SmileAmazonSmile is a simple and automatic way for you to support a charity of your choice – Ranelagh School Parent Teacher Association – every time you shop, at no cost to you.

Why sign up?

So far we’ve raised more than £3,000 through easyfundraising and Amazon Smile. Imagine how much more we could raise if every parents and carer signed up and remembered to shop online in this way?

What’s the catch?

There isn’t one. It costs you nothing and easyfundraising and amazon make sure donations come straight to the PTA.

How do I sign up?

Go to www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/ranelaghpta/ You can download an app to your phone to manager your account and shop on your phone or shop via the site on your web browser.

Go to smile.amazon.co.uk from the web browser on your computer or mobile device. You may also want to add a bookmark to smile.amazon.co.uk to make it even easier to return and start your shopping at AmazonSmile.

Do you have to sign up to Amazon Smile if you are already registered with easyfundraising?

Yes, if you’re shopping on Amazon. Just search for Amazon Smile on easyfundraising as you would any other store and follow the links. Once you’ve chosen Ranelagh School Parent Teacher Association as your charity, you won’t need to select it again when you shop at amazon next time.

Can I use Amazon Smile through the Amazon app on my phone?

Android phones give you the option to add a cause to your Settings but unfortunately iPhones don’t yet. There’s a work around in the meantime – Go to www.smile.amazon.com in your phone’s browser and log into your account. In the phone’s menu bar at the top right, select “Add to home screen.” A kind of “app” for Amazon Smile will appear on your home screen. You can first go into the Amazon shopping app (better appearance for phone) and choose your items, then click on the Amazon Smile “app” and order from there.

Gift Aid

We’re now registered to receive Gift Aid so if you’re a UK taxpayer, Gift Aid increases the value of your charity donations by 25%, because the charity can reclaim the basic rate of tax on your gift – at no extra cost to you. Just remember to tick the gift aid box, confirm your address when asked and we do the rest.

Match Funding and Corporate Social Responsibility Programmes

match funding for your schoolA number of parents have been able to seek considerable sums of funding from their employers as either match funding for events they have been involved with, or through a charity programme (sometimes badged Corporate Social Responsibility or CSR programmes for short).

For instance, Microsoft have match funded our annual Quiz Night for several years now which has doubled any profits made at those events. Others, such as Afton Chemical Ltd have been longstanding donors of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prize money given at our Founders Day raffle as part of their CSR programme.

Other local companies choose to support Ranelagh PTA charity by donating goods or equipment for events. The Dyer family from the Butchers in Windsor, for example, have been donating a fabulous free-range turkey as part of the 1st prize Christmas hamper for years, and Hall Hunter Partnership (Farming) have been donating strawberries for our Founders Day cream teas for years too.

There are so many ways businesses can help us to raise more money for the school. Please let us know if you can help in any way – we’d love to hear from you. We’ve even produced a letter template to help you make an appeal to your employer.
