Science Applied to Life
On the 21st of February 2018, groups of students from all around Bracknell came to 3M. 3M is a global innovation company that is always inventing to make life easier for everyone, every day. The purpose of the visit was to inspire young children to indulge in the world of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

3M is a company who produce and manufacture over 55,000 products all over the world. They also have over 90,000 workers globally. According to their website, their main priorities for products are health and safety, and doing business the right way.

Selected students from schools such as Ranelagh in Bracknell and Bulmershe in Woodley, were lucky enough to experience a tour round the innovation centre, while interacting with and trying out some of the more interesting products. These pupils were also able to question employees at 3M and find out about how they were introduced to the exciting world of STEM. 3M’s motto is ‘Science applied to life’, and students found that this was indeed true of the company.

Megan of Ranelagh School was one of those lucky enough to take part. She stated, “It was a great opportunity and I now have some inspirations for my career.”

This trip really enabled students to see just how many possibilities there are at this company, even if you are not good at science!
